Forum for Diversity in Graduate Education The California Forum for Diversity in Graduate Education, held at the University of San Diego on April 9, 2005, had 1,276 students pre-registered and 841 in actual attendance from the California State University, the University of California, and private and independent colleges and universities throughout Southern California. The previous Forum held in Northern California, at the University of the Pacific on October 30, 2004, had 637 students in actual attendance. At the San Diego Forum, 83.7% of the student attendees had a GPA of 3.0 or better (with 38.1% above 3.5), while over half (53.5%) of the attendees indicated they were from the first generation in their families to attend college.
There were 187 recruiting tables at the San Diego Forum, representing a total of 116 different institutions. Ninety-nine percent of the students in attendance reported that they visited the recruiter fair, with 88% indicating they approached six or more recruiter tables. Recruiters responding to the Forum’s survey reporting meeting with an average of 73 students each.
